Deety's idea: 2 PROCESSES 1)Declaration of Grievances 2)list of solutions
(DISCLAIMER: I hijacked Deety's idea from another thread and placed it here in quotes) :"I think we need to do two things here. First we need to draft the declaration. Second we need to keep a separate list of possible solutions to address the grievances. Once we get the final version of the first of these, we can see about getting working groups, or whatever form the process takes, focused on specific parts of the declaration and possible remedies. If we confuse the two we risk not only turning people off if they don't like our remedies, but also discouraging additional ideas from new voices."
I like this thinking
yes. There are several things to consider, again, this is so much like the Peoples Congress forum in concept.
Check it out.

There are basically two things to consider.
1.) A list of specific remedies derived from specific grievances. Link them to sources perhaps/background info etc.
2.) The Declaration. More complicated. There are several Constitutional Scholars we are aware of who can help.

Go for the gold on this one!
There is a third thing to consider here. You are only addressing remedies for the specific grievances. How about taking the opportunity to educate and confront them on the causes that lead to the grievances? Isn't that the basis for presenting a grievance by the public? Not to mention the reasoning for seeking replacement of a corrupt government?

Yes, that could be an aspect for ideas too. So if there are "causes of the grievances" discussion forums, it would facilitate us to have those threads separate from the actual generation of the DRAFT Declaration of Grievances for the NGA. Avoiding run-on sentences in the Declaration of Grievances itself is the challenge right now, in order to focus on ironing it out, so that it is presentable to the Delegation at the NGA in Philly of July 2012. No doubt there will be debate and discussion on the actual DRAFT Declaration of Grievances before it goes to an actual vote. Once that document is finalized after the vote and presented, hopefully causes and remedies will be part of the national discussions as well.
Re: Deety's idea: 2 PROCESSES 1)Declaration of Grievances 2)list of solutions
I suggest we call the new forum section Root Causes for the Grievances.

What would be the function? To create educational material? I think that would be a really good thing to do. We put a Research and Fact Checking Team on the list, to facilitate web content creation and such, shall we just change that to Research & Education? The team would be responsible for providing material for the website, video productions and outreach material?
Sound good?
Sound good?

Both sound good!
I would be interested in joining such a Work Group regarding environmental impact research
Re: Deety's idea: 2 PROCESSES 1)Declaration of Grievances 2)list of solutions
Sounds good to me D.J. We can tie the research group into the drafting work group too.
Re: Deety's idea: 2 PROCESSES 1)Declaration of Grievances 2)list of solutions
Hold on, I'm confused. Which new WorkGroup do you want me to create? And where in this forum should I put it? As a subgroup of Drafting? Or on its own?

I'm thinking research should not be a sub-group now Molly. We might want to separate research and education eventually too, depending on our future growth and needs. The drafting group can send requests to the research and education group for now.
Re: Deety's idea: 2 PROCESSES 1)Declaration of Grievances 2)list of solutions
This is a really good idea. That way the Declaration itself remains a clear and concise list of grievances, while educational materials can be created from the rich information found in "Root Cause" discussions. It reminds me of a well-written historical narrative that has unassailable documentation behind it, but the references/citations are subordinate to the more powerful narrative. God, I hope that made sense to someone- I'm tired!

That made perfect sense to me Johanna. :-) I'd like to put some time into the research and education work group too Aspiesmom, if I'm not overwhelmed by drafting work.
Re: Deety's idea: 2 PROCESSES 1)Declaration of Grievances 2)list of solutions
okies i'll changed Political Education to Research and Education so that people 'get' what it's for.

BTW, I'm happy to work on educational materials as well. I've created many, many in my professional life and I enjoy doing it!
