Reinstate the Fairness Doctrine in news media
This is one I think is also important to re-instate. It required that news media be "fair and balanced" - make the effort to give both sides to a story without skewing the facts. It held news media accountable for "truth telling" as much as possible.
Without it, we have ended up a much more polarized society, with people only hearing views they already agree with and not getting valid exposure to other perspectives. Then you end up with Fox News - or even MSNBC - which get the label "right wing" or "liberal" - It just makes matters worse.
Easy to reverse and then media will have to be a little more prudent about how things are reported.
Can we put this in the Declaration?
